Christmas Comparisons December 14, 2021 – Posted in: Advice, Confidence, Relationships

Christmas comparisons can be a real downer for your self-esteem. And with Christmas fast approaching, I just wanted to give you my yearly reminder to not compare your festive season to others’ – especially those we see on all those sparkly TV ads.

Christmas, like people, comes in all shapes and sizes.

Some of us will be working, some of us will be alone. Some of us will be with people we really can’t stand, some of us will be grieving the recent loss of a dearly loved one. Some of us will be full of cold, others will start their day with a run around the park.

Some of us enjoy the build-up far more than the actual day. Some of us don’t partake at all. Some eat turkey, some have beef. Many will have a nut roast. Some have champagne, some are struggling to get sober this year. Some will be homeless, again. Some will be hungry.  Some will gorge on cheese.

For some of us, Christmas is a festival we don’t celebrate because we observe other traditions. For others, Christmas really is the most magical time of the year.

Whatever your Christmas looks like please remember it’s just one day. Dogs still need walking, dishes still need washing, teeth still need brushing and bodies still need feeding.

Comparing your Christmas to anyone else’s is pointless and lifeless so please don’t.

Instead, focus on what is happening in your life on the day. Be present with whatever the day brings, look after yourself, and know that this too shall pass.

Lastly, thank you for all your support this year. I hope I’ve done my bit to help you feel a little better about yourself and encouraged you in your journey to increased confidence. If you’d like daily hints and tips on improving your confidence, don’t forget to follow me on Instagram.

With my love and best wishes
